Loving Vincent - Review / Recenzie

If I had to make a list of movies that truly left a mark on me, Loving Vincent would surely be on the first place. This movie is impressive not only through the story that is unfolding right before our eyes, that of Armand Roulin, the son of a mailman, who tries to piece together the last days of painter Vincent van Gogh, but also through the way the story is being told: each frame, 65,000 in total, is an oil painting done in the same manner as the famous works of the Dutch artist. Before starting, it must be noted that, after all, the movie is mostly a work of fiction. That being said, even though the majority of the characters are based on real people, their relationships and their lines „belong” to the screenwriters. The storyline is easy to follow. While there are a few plot twists along the way, these have the purpose of keeping the spectator’s interest awake and to make them search for possible meanings and solutions.
